In November 1995, the Hill Monastic Manuscript Library at Saint John's University , Minnesota sponsored a calligraphy presentation by Donald Jackson.
At lunch the next Donald Jackson indicated a wish hand write and illuminate the Gospels to Fr. Eric Hollas, OSB, who is the Director of the Hill Monastic Manuscript Library and a member of Saint John's Abbey.
After some discussion it was agreed that Donald should produce
not just the Gospels, but the whole Bible.
Donald Jackson is the Queen’s Scribe and has been described as “the
foremost Western calligrapher of our time”
The Bible is very much a work in progress, it is not expected to be completed for many years.
An excellent, informative website is being developed to chart it’s progress.
