Don't forget the Graceful Envelope contest, sponsored by the Washington Calligraphers
Guild in collaboration with the National Postal Museum.
Calligraphers are invited to submit creatively decorated envelopes using hand-executed fine lettering of any style.
Approximately 50 winning envelopes from the competition will
be exhibited July 20 to August 25 at the Strathmore Arts Center in Rockville,
Maryland, as well as in a special online exhibit.
This year's theme focuses on two Washington, DC, area traditions -- 200 years
of Washington as the United States capital and home of the federal government,
and the 25th anniversary of the Washington Calligraphers Guild.
Entries must be addressed to The Graceful Envelope Contest, Washington Calligraphers
Guild, Box 3688, Merrifield, Virginia 22116-3688 and postmarked no later than
March 31. There is no entry fee.
For more information and a complete list of rules, consult the Washington Calligraphers
Guild website at
